5th Harmony is an American girl group, made out of 5 girls. Ally Brooke Hernandez, Normani Hamilton, Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello, and Dinah Jane Hansen. They went on the X-Factor as separate performances, and were put in a band by Simon Cowell. (Just like One Direction!) In the semi-finals of the show, they performed Ellie Goulding’s “Anything Can Happen.” L.A. Reid described their performance as “Quite magical”. Here is a little about the girls separately.

ALLY BROOKE HERNANDEZ

Allyson Brooke Hernandez (Shown is the middle) was born on July 7, 1993. Her audition song that she performed was “On my knees” by Jaci Velasquez, Then she received positive feedback from the judges. Ally says one of her biggest musical influences is Selena Quintanilla.

LAUREN JAUREGUI

Lauren Michelle Jauregui (Shown 1st on left) was born June 27, 1996, in Miami, Florida. Her audition song was “If I Ain’t Got you” by Alicia Keys. Her favorite artists include Journey, Paramore, The Script, and Christina Aguilera, as well as Alicia Keys.

CAMILA CABELLO

Karla Camila Cabello (Shown 2nd from right) was born on March 3rd, 1997 in Cojimar, Cuba. She prefers to be called by her middle name, Camila. I actually don’t know what song she sang for her audition, but I do know that she has an amazing voice. At boot camp Camila sang “Back to Black” by the late Amy Winehouse.

NORMANI HAMILTON

Normani Kordei Hamilton (Shown 2nd from left) was born May 31, 1996 in Atlanta. She spent her early years in New Orleans. Her family relocated after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Normani had been performing since she was 3, and was an award-winning dancer before recording her first single at the age of 13. On the X-Factor, she sang Chain of Fools by the legendary Aretha Franklin. Normani says her main musical and artistic influence.

DINAH JANE HANSEN

Dinah Jane Hansen was born June 22, 1997 in Santa Ana, California. Dinah is of the Tongan and Polynesian heritage. She auditioned singing “If I were a boy” by Beyoncé. L.A. Reid says, quoting, “took the song to places that even Beyoncé didn’t”. She cities Beyoncé, Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey, and Etta James as her musical influences.
